Girls Program Overview

Greeley Youth Lacrosse has an inclusive policy and will ensure that every athlete with the desire to play lacrosse will be provided that opportunity.  No athlete will be excluded from playing.

 

Kindergarden:

Objectives: Fun, familiarization with lacrosse.

Parent Run & Organized. Supplemental instruction from NRG Lacrosse

Play: non-competitive, developmental play

Meet: 1 hour per week. Expected to be Sunday afternoon

Required Equipment: Girls lacrosse stick (no goggles are required)

Soft lax balls will be used and a GYL pinney will be provided

 

 

1st Grade Team: 

Objectives: Fun, familiarization with lacrosse.

Parent Run & Organized. Supplemental instruction from NRG Lacrosse

Play: non-competitive, developmental play

Meet: 1 hour per week. Expected to be Sunday afternoons, and 2-3 games will be played

Required Equipment: Girls lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth piece

Hard lax balls are used and a GYL pinney will be provided

 

 

2nd Grade Team:

Objectives: Fun, continued familiarization with lacrosse, introduction to game play

Parent Run & Organized. Supplemental instruction from NRG Lacrosse

Play: Primarily Intra-squad practices and 2-3 Jamborees/games per season

Meet: ~1 hour 2X per week.

Required Equipment: Girls lacrosse stick, molded mouth guard, eye goggles; GYL pinney provided

 

 

Combined 3rd/4th Grade Team(s):

Objectives: Fun, skill development, Introduction to rules and game strategy

Play: Hudson Valley League play against local teams, every other week training from NRG Lacrosse

Meets: ~2 practices / 1 game per week on weekends, area jamborees and tournaments will be scheduled

Equipment: Girls lacrosse stick, molded mouth guard, eye goggles

Uniforms required and not included in registration fee; GYL practice pinney provided

 

 

 

Combined 5th/6th Grade Team(s):

Play: Hudson Valley League play against local teams, every other week training from NRG Lacrosse

Meets: ~2 practices / 1 game per week on weekends, area jamborees and tournaments will be scheduled

Equipment: Girls lacrosse stick, molded mouth guard, eye goggles

Uniforms required and not included in registration fee; GYL practice pinney provided

 

Playing time expectations:  >40% for each game for players that contribute positively to the culture of the team but depending on the size of the roster, this may be adjusted by the coaches.

 

 

Combined 7th/8th Grade Team :

The goal with the 7th/8th grade program is to minimize conflicts with the Modified programs provided through the Chappaqua School District.  All practices will be twice a week and home games will be on Saturday mornings.  There will be ~9 games and ~2-3 jamborees.

For all girls in grades 7th and 8th that choose to just play Modified, there will be an option available to play in fall practices only.

There is no requirement for playing time at this level.

Uniforms are required and are not included in the registration fee, practice pinnies are provided.
